Toyota Industries Corporation has been recognised as the world leader in materials handing for the forth year running by German publication Logistik Journal.
Toyota has enjoyed a record breaking year, achieving sales of more than 100,000 units and an annual turnover of more than €3.7 billion within its material handling business.
The data, based on annual turnover between April 2004 and March 2005 reveals that overall sales are looking positive in the materials handling sector despite a general economic stagnancy in industry.
Shinya Furukawa, President of Toyota Industrial Equipment Europe, said: “To be acknowledged as world number one yet again is a great achievement and a reflection of Toyota’s progressive approach to materials handling in the 21st century.

Toyota exported its first forklifts from Japan in 1958 and has developed a leading reputation for quality, safety and reliability. In Europe, the company has20 distributors operating in 27 countriesand is consistently expanding its sales, distribution and after sales network.
