February 2005 - New explosion-proof forklifts TOYOTA TO OFFER EXPLOSION-PROOF FORKLIFTS

Toyota Industrial Equipment is now offering explosion-proof forklifts as a factory option.

Using specialist technologies, Toyota can arrange for the trucks to be modified to operate safely in potentially explosive environments including zone 1 and zone 2 - zone 1 is classified as a place where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur and zone 2 as where it is not likely to occur in normal operation.

The modifications will ensure the forklifts meet the requirements of European law ATEX 1994/9/EC and ATEX 1999/9/EC.

Benoit Meunier, Product Manager, Toyota Industrial Equipment Europe, comments: "As part of our commitment to even higher levels of customer care, we are now offering these trucks as a factory option to ensure the ordering, service and maintenance process is as simple and quick as possible for our customers."

Toyota's explosion-proof option is currently available on its 7FDF and 7FBMF models and is suitable for customers in industries ranging from chemical to distillery. It provides an ideal solution for customers operating in zone 1 or zone 2 environments that need specialist trucks to provide the highest levels of safety.

Benoit Meunier continues: "Service levels will be enhanced because customers can now go directly to Toyota to deal with servicing issues covering all areas of the truck including the explosion proof system. As a result downtime and maintenance can be minimised".

"Toyota is the world leader in materials handling because it continually thinks about the customer and how it can expand and improve its product offering. Customers are increasingly demanding solutions that meet modern materials handling needs and ensure the highest levels of safety, reliability, performance and productivity. At Toyota we are committed to meeting and exceeding these needs."
