March 2005 - The second most admired company TOYOTA INDUSTRIES CORPORATION IS ONE OF WORLD’S MOST ADMIRED COMPANIES
Toyota Industries Corporation has been named by Fortune magazine as the world’s second most admired company in the category dedicated to manufacturers and suppliers of motor vehicle parts. This is the first time that Toyota Industries Corporation has appeared in the listing.
As well as being a leading supplier of motor vehicle parts including diesel and gas engines for Toyota vehicles and forklifts, Toyota Industries Corporation is the global leader in materials handling based on turnover and worldwide forklift sales*. The Fortune survey also places Toyota Industries Corporation as the second most admired company in Japan.
Based on a survey conducted by the Hay Group, the ranking involved over 10,000 executives and managers in 30 different industries. Companies were ranked out of ten in nine categories, including innovation, industry leadership, financial soundness and social responsibility.
Shinya Furukawa, President of Toyota Industrial Equipment Europe comments: “A top ranking in this survey is an excellent achievement as it is based on the opinions of some of the world’s leading companies and recognises more than just profits.
This ranking is testament to Toyota’s significant investment in research and development. It acknowledges Toyota’s innovation and technological capabilities which result in the highest quality engines for Toyota forklifts. These factors ensure that our forklifts maintain their industry-leading reputation for reliability, quality and safety.”
Toyota Industries Corporation is renowned for its technological developments which can be seen throughout the entire group including its materials handling division. This has resulted in the development of the pioneering System of Active Stability (SAS) on the Generation 7 range. SAS is the world’s first active safety system for forklifts, with numerous cutting-edge safety features that contribute to exceptional workplace safety.
Shinya Furukawa concludes: “These innovations and technologies illustrate Toyota’s revolutionary thinking and service offering which in turn, strengthens Toyota’s position as the world’s number one forklift manufacturer.”
