Toyota launches new 24V forklifts

October 2005 Toyota launch advanced range of 24V forklifts

Toyota Industrial Equipment Europe is launching a new range of advanced, 24 volt, 3-wheel electric forklift trucks that will provide a safe and productive solution for applications where operating space is limited.

Ideal for tight spaces in factories, warehouses and shops, the new Toyota Traigo range is available in 1.0, 1.25 and 1.5 ton lifting capacities. The range can be flexibly manufactured to meet individual applications and customer specification needs.

Featuring Toyota's industry leading technologies such as the unique System of Active Stability (SAS) and AC? Power System, plus Toyota's Operator Total Care (OTC) package, the Toyota Traigo provides leading levels of safety, comfort, productivity and profitability.

To ensure the highest levels of safety, SAS actively protects the driver, reduces the risk of damaged goods, and enhances productivity. SAS features include auto fork levelling which enables drivers to place the forks in a perfectly horizontal position with the push of a button. This helps to simplify loading and unloading. Another feature of SAS is active mast control, which limits the backward tilt speed at height when detecting unstable situations. It also reduces the forward tilt angle when lifting heavy loads high. In addition lateral stability of the forklift is taken care of with an active lateral stability system, which reduces the truck drive speed when turning.

The 7FBEST significantly improves cycle time productivity with the integration of the AC² Power System, which combines a compact AC motor and sophisticated controller to offer high power with precise control.

An exclusive 3-mode Power Select function offers preset control of the AC² Power System with 'standard', 'power' and 'high power' modes for material handling speeds.

'Standard' power offers relatively low materials handling speeds and maximum operating time from the battery. Conversely - 'High Power' mode offers maximum materials handling speeds from the truck compared to standard or power mode.

Productivity is further enhanced by a horizontal battery exchange system which allows the battery to be rolled off the truck sideways. This roll on / roll off system makes the battery changing process quicker, simpler and safer.

The Toyota Traigo offers superior ergonomics as a result of Toyota's OTC package, which includes mini-lever controls built into a seat-mounted armrest. This armrest can also be specified with twin multi-function levers to allow the operator to carry out more than one function with each lever. Long, driver-side levers can also be specified, providing easy mechanical operation of all materials handling functions.

Craig Walby, Toyota's Product Manager comments: "These new 24 volt, 3-wheel electric forklift trucks have been specifically developed for European users. We have closely listened to the users of 3-wheel trucks and aim to meet their evolving needs by providing active safety features as standard. We provide alternative ergonomic solutions to meet differing driver and application needs. With the application of AC technology we will make the range more energy efficient, more productive, more reliable and less costly to operate."
