April 2006 - Toyota launches new electric towing tractors range
Toyota Industrial Equipment Europe has launched a new range of compact electric towing tractors designed to enhance horizontal transport operations.
Comprising five models in 2 ton, 3 ton and 4 ton versions, the new 4CBT range has been developed to meet a growing demand for towing tractors in many environments, including production lines, cross-dock logistics and order picking.
With a chassis width of just 800mm and a short wheelbase, the 4CBT can manoeuvre easily in manufacturing environments, enabling operators to tow larger non-palletised loads to and in between production lines.
The new 4CBT towing tractors feature an AC drive motor and 48 volt electrical system. Large diameter wheels enable the towing tractors to effectively transport loads over uneven floors, both inside and outside. Standard pneumatic tyres provide extra shock impact protection for the truck’s components and improve driver comfort.
The new range is available in sit-on and stand-on models. The sit-on models are ideal for horizontal transport across all distances, while the stand-on models are also suitable for picking applications where operators need to get on and off their trucks frequently.
David Backx, Product Specialist, Toyota Industrial Equipment Europe, comments: “There is an increased demand for towing tractors which can be used for both order picking and efficient horizontal transport of materials to and from production lines.
“With the introduction of the 4CBT, we have greatly enhanced our range of towing tractors. Depending on travel distances, intensity of towing and frequency of getting on and off the truck, the range offers several different options. This ensures that we can specify the most productive and ergonomic solution for each application.”
